Riders
1. Lessons will be given rain or shine. If the weather looks like rain, please bring a rain poncho/jacket and an extra set of clothes to change into. We will ride in the rain, unless there is lightning. If we cannot ride, we will work on other aspects of horsemanship in the barn. Lessons will not be canceled due to rain.
2. If possible, please arrive 15 min prior to your scheduled lesson to get yourself and your horse ready.
3. Riders must have ASTM/SEI approved helmet, breeches, paddock boots and half chaps.
4. Riders who will be jumping must have protective vest.
5. If you are going to miss a lesson, please let us know either by email or voice mail.
6. Riders may bring apples or carrots as treats for the horses. Many of our horse are on specific diets and we do not allow other horse treats. Treats may be given ONLY when the horse is in their stall or in the field.
Parents
1. Please do not drive over 15 miles per hr on the gravel road.
2. For safety reasons, only riders are allowed to roam freely past the gate and in the barn area. We encourage parents not to bring siblings or pets to the lesson but if it is necessary, please keep children by your side and away from horses. Our program puts strong emphasis on safety, on and around horse.
3. Parents are not required to stay during the lesson, but if you want to watch your rider, we have benches under the porch where you can view your rider. Please do not go down to the ring to watch, it distracts the rider and the horses.
4. Blacks Hill Stables is also our home so please call and check with us if you are interested in coming by other than during your lesson time.
5. Please feel free to call or email Sharon at any time with questions and/or concerns.
